As a feminist and philanthropic organization, we could not remain insensitive to the COVID-19 pandemic that has affected millions of people around the world.
In light of the vulnerability of certain population groups and the difficulties many encountered in applying prevention and protection measures, IPBF decided to contribute to the fight against COVID-19 in Burkina Faso. Thanks to the financial support of Foundation for a Just Society, sanitary supplies, protection kits and food were provided to 5 health and safety coordinators, one women’s group, vulnerable families, the women’s section of the civil prison, 2 secondary schools as well as members of IPBF.
This initiative was followed by a project entitled “Strengthening the Resilience of Women and Girls and their Efforts in COVID-19 Prevention” which was financed by Plan International Burkina. This project, which ran from June to August 2020, aimed to contribute to the response against COVID-19 in Burkina Faso through the implementation of awareness-raising activities in the Mooré language in the Burkinabe capital, mainly in the health district of Boulmiougou.
Finally, still with the aim of contributing to the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and its unprecedented consequences on vulnerable populations, IPBF conducted a study on the impact of COVID-19 on young women and girls in Burkina Faso. The objective of this study is to anticipate the consequences of this crisis on the socio-economic and health situation of young women and girls in Burkina Faso. The results should enable actors to implement targeted actions in order to meet the needs of young women and girls in this regard.
